75th Anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong 2026 50c Uncirculated Coin in Card
- Description
- Reviews
In April 1951, outnumbered and under relentless fire, the soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) held their ground in the Kapyong Valley, Korea. Their courage helped turn the tide of battle and earned them a place in Australian military history. Seventy-five years on, their sacrifice is remembered.
The Royal Australian Mint's 2026 50c Uncirculated Coin commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong — a deeply considered tribute to the 32 Australian soldiers who gave their lives in that conflict, and to all who served.
The Design
Designed by Bronwyn Scott, the coin's reverse draws on the beauty of Korean culture to honour the fallen. A floral pattern inspired by traditional Korean lattice frames forms the centrepiece, incorporating 32 poppies — one for each Australian life lost in the 1951 conflict. It is a design that is both visually striking and quietly profound.
The coin is housed in a protective capsule and presentation card featuring archival images, making it a collector's piece that tells a story as much as it preserves one.
A Collector's Tribute
With a maximum mintage of just 40,000, this coin is a limited release that honours a chapter of Australian military history that deserves to be remembered. Whether for a collector, a veteran, or someone with a connection to the Korean War, this is a gift of genuine meaning.
Please note: Orders containing this item will ship approximately the 3rd week of April.
